Postnatal Care in Delhi
Recovery, contraception, mental health and the checks that are too often skipped.
What postnatal care involves
The six weeks after birth carry real risks that routinely get less attention than the pregnancy did — infection, anaemia, blood pressure problems, thyroid dysfunction and postnatal depression among them.
Postnatal review here covers physical recovery, wound and perineal healing, contraception, breastfeeding, and an honest conversation about how you are actually coping.
Who this is for
- Routine review at one and six weeks after delivery
- Wound or perineal pain, or heavy bleeding
- Difficulty with breastfeeding
- Low mood, anxiety or difficulty coping
Not everything on this list means you need this treatment. The workup comes first, and the recommendation follows from what it shows — not from what was booked before you arrived.
Step by step
Early review
Wound check, blood pressure, haemoglobin and feeding assessment in the first week.
Six-week check
Full recovery assessment, pelvic examination where needed, and contraception decided.
Mental health
Direct screening for postnatal depression, with referral where it is indicated.
Onward planning
Advice on pregnancy spacing and, where relevant, a plan for the next pregnancy.
Your results, in writing
Whatever the outcome of postnatal care, you leave each stage with the findings written down — what was done, what was found, what it means, and what the options are from here. Reports are issued the same day wherever the laboratory allows it.
What is different about having this done here
Postnatal depression actively screened for, not waited for
Contraception discussed before you leave the six-week visit
Lactation support available
Thyroid rechecked where it was abnormal in pregnancy
Treated by the consultant, not by a rotating team
Dr. Tiwari performs the scans, the procedure and the follow-up herself, and looks after any pregnancy that results. Over a long treatment course that continuity is the difference between being known and being processed.
- MBBS, MS (Obstetrics & Gynaecology), FNB (Reproductive Medicine)
- Over ten years in reproductive medicine and gynaecological surgery
- Previous treatment records from other centres read in full
- Itemised costs given in writing before anything begins

Areas we see patients from
Both clinics are in South Delhi. Patients travelling from further out have appointments grouped to cut down the number of trips.
Questions about postnatal care
When will my periods return?
Usually six to twelve weeks if you are not breastfeeding, and often several months if you are exclusively breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is not reliable contraception.
How long before I can conceive again?
At least 18 months between delivery and the next conception is generally advised, and longer after a caesarean.
Talk it through before you commit
Consultations run for a full hour. Bring any previous reports — they are reviewed properly, not repeated.
