Pap Smear, HPV Testing & Vaccination in Delhi
Screening that catches cervical changes years before they become cancer, and the vaccine that prevents them.
What pap smear, HPV testing & vaccination involves
Cervical cancer remains one of the commonest cancers among Indian women, and it is very nearly entirely preventable. A Pap smear detects cell changes long before cancer develops, and HPV testing identifies the virus that causes it.
The HPV vaccine works best before exposure, which is why it is given to girls and boys from nine years, but it still offers benefit to adult women. We offer both screening and vaccination.
Who this is for
- Women aged 21 and over for routine Pap screening
- HPV co-testing from age 30
- Bleeding after intercourse or between periods
- Girls and boys from 9 years for HPV vaccination
Not everything on this list means you need this treatment. The workup comes first, and the recommendation follows from what it shows — not from what was booked before you arrived.
Step by step
Pap smear
A brief speculum examination and cervical sample, mildly uncomfortable at most.
HPV testing
Often on the same sample, identifying high-risk viral types.
Colposcopy
A magnified cervical examination with biopsy if the smear or HPV test is abnormal.
Treatment or vaccination
LEEP or cryotherapy for significant lesions; the vaccine schedule for prevention.
Your results, in writing
Whatever the outcome of pap smear, HPV testing & vaccination, you leave each stage with the findings written down — what was done, what was found, what it means, and what the options are from here. Reports are issued the same day wherever the laboratory allows it.
What is different about having this done here
Screening intervals set by guideline, not by how often you visit
Colposcopy on site rather than by onward referral
HPV vaccination for adolescents and adults
Abnormal results explained in person, never by an unexplained report
Treated by the consultant, not by a rotating team
Dr. Tiwari performs the scans, the procedure and the follow-up herself, and looks after any pregnancy that results. Over a long treatment course that continuity is the difference between being known and being processed.

Questions about pap smear, HPV testing & vaccination
How often do I need a Pap smear?
Every three years from 21 to 29 with cytology alone, and every five years from 30 to 65 with HPV co-testing, assuming results are normal.
Is the HPV vaccine worth it after 26?
It offers less benefit than before exposure but is still worthwhile for many women up to 45. We discuss it individually.
Does an abnormal Pap mean cancer?
Almost never. Most abnormalities are minor changes that either resolve on their own or are treated simply at the pre-cancerous stage.
