What adolescent gynaecology involves
Teenage gynaecological problems are often dismissed at home until they become severe. Periods that have not started by 15, periods painful enough to miss school, very heavy bleeding, or early signs of PCOS all deserve proper assessment.
Consultations are handled with care for the patient's dignity and privacy. Examination is rarely necessary at this age, and nothing is done without explanation and consent.

Questions about adolescent gynaecology
Are irregular periods normal in teenagers?
For the first two years after periods start, some irregularity is normal. Beyond that, or if cycles are very long or very heavy, it should be assessed.
Will my daughter need an internal examination?
Almost never. Ultrasound is usually done abdominally at this age.
